Dr. Stepp's Practice:
Since completing his residency, he has used or evaluated almost every new surgical technology used in gynecologic laparoscopy to date. He is confident that his patients have the opportunity to receive the most advanced and best care possible. He is a thought leader and has been invited to teach, lecture, or present his research at several educational venues around the United States. He is currently one of only a few gynecologists in the world performing Single Incision Laparoscopy/Single Port Access with the goal being faster recovery with less pain. The Single Incision Laparoscopic Hysterectomy is performed through a tiny single incision in the belly button and has the cosmetic advantage of essentially no visible scar.
As a board certified urogynecologist, he has additional training and expertise in conditions that affect the female pelvic organs (including the vagina, uterus, bladder and rectum) and the muscles and connective tissue that support those organs. Doctors often refer to a urogynecologist for urinary incontinence or when they suspect a problem with "the pelvic floor" or the muscles, ligaments, connective tissue and nerves that help support and control the bladder, uterus, vagina and rectum.
As a minimally invasive surgeon, he also sees patients with benign gynecologic conditions who need surgery but want to minimize risk, complications, and recovery time. Many patients can be treated as an Outpatient Surgery and go home the same day or after a short overnight stay.
Devoted to Compassionate Care for Sensitive Issues:
Dr. Stepp devotes his practice to treating conditions that affect many women but aren't always talked about. He realizes the concerns women have in seeking out excellent treatment in a compassionate environment. Dr. Stepp is proud of the help he receives from the nurses and certified nurse practitioners in his office. In addition to helping patients feel comfortable discussing often sensitive issues, he believes that women are entitled to the latest medicine and technology have to offer.
Second Opinions:
Dr. Stepp realizes that women have a choice and will seek out quality medical care. Second opinions are a part of specialized medicine and Dr. Stepp works with primary care providers and gynecologists to provide the best possible care for each patient in a coordinated way. Referring physicians are kept up to date with copies of all evaluations and treatments when appropriate.
Unfortunately, Dr. Stepp also sees many patients who have suffered complications from prior surgeries. Whether you have had prior failed surgeries or you are not happy with the result of your surgery, Dr. Stepp is experienced in treating complications and received the highest level of training in pelvic reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Stepp treats patients at the Carolinas Carolinas HealthCare System - Mercy Hospital, 2001 Vail Avenue, 3rd Floor, Suite 360, Charlotte, NC 28207. Click here for location information.
